The EU: The Silly Uncle of World Politics

At a time when the world is returning to realpolitik, the European Union resembles a dorky old uncle at a family party. Full of moral advice, but no one takes him seriously. Through its hyper-moral antics, the EU leadership has lost all relevance.

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul recently planned a trip to China to discuss trade and bilateral relations. But in Beijing, known for its protocol diplomacy, no one wanted to see him. Wadephul was forced to cancel his trip , a diplomatic insult rarely seen in the sensitive world of international relations. The Chinese, who normally exchange pleasantries even with insignificant guests, are thus signaling that it’s not worth wasting time on the hyper-moral Germans who are ruining their country with climate madness and uncontrolled migration. Wadephul, who in Berlin spoke highly of Ukraine, has been met with nothing but icy silence in Beijing, a clear sign of the irrelevance of Germany and the EU, writes Chris Veber .

Equally revealing is the US stance. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed in a television interview how French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and the German government sabotaged negotiations over the release of the Hamas hostages. According to Rubio, the Europeans gave Hamas new room to maneuver through their fantasies of a “permanent ceasefire,” out of sheer fear of the radical Muslims in their own countries, whom they imported through their open-border policy. Hamas then raised its demands; the hostages remained captive. Instead of saving lives, European leaders chose to appease the radical Muslims on their streets, an acknowledgement that their migration policy had not only failed but was now exacerbating global crises. Rubio, who at the time described the negotiations as “almost complete,” made it clear: Europe’s cowardice is costing lives.

This disdain culminated in Rubio’s decision to skip the annual meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels. For the first time since 1999, the US Secretary of State was absent. The EU-NATO countries are apparently considered equally irrelevant and idiotic in Washington, especially regarding the Ukraine issue. Europe’s childish demands for ever more weapons and continuation of the war only irritate the US.

Rubio’s absence sends a clear message. They want nothing to do with the know-it-alls who pay for golden toilets in Kyiv while their own economies collapse. The EU preaches “values™,” destroys Europe through asylum invasions and climate insanity, and wonders why no one listens to it anymore. The Pentagon has consistently broken off contact with the German Ministry of Defense. Lieutenant General Christian Freuding, head of the Ukraine task force, complained that his text messages to American colleagues go unanswered. They used to chat “day and night,” but today there’s silence on the other end of the line.

The Americans have no sympathy for Berlin’s belligerent behavior and absolutely refuse to be drawn into an escalation of the conflict. The EU’s fanatics are considered toxic. It’s best to maintain a wide distance. The EU leadership has succeeded. From Beijing to Washington, no one wants to talk to the hyper-moral self-destructors anymore. Their policies (migration as “enrichment,” climate targets as “salvation”) are leading Europe toward bankruptcy and social chaos. China ignores them, the US shuns them, and Russia laughs itself to death.

The European elites don’t notice that the world has moved on without them. And so they remain alone at their meetings, with only Zelenskyy keeping them company. But they have to pay for it.
