Editing Our Reality, One Epstein at a Time

Another Lucy-with-the-football moment has occurred in the United States. Less than 1% of the information from the Epstein dossier has been released, and what was released to the public has emptied all the black ink cartridges in the Washington, DC, region. This is one of the many disappointed liberal dreams, whether it’s investigations by special counsel, the hope of criminal prosecutions when a new administration takes office… all sorts of aspirations where you just have to wait a little while and your patience will be rewarded.

But the point is, this day of reckoning never seems to arrive. This realization comes only after countless hours, days, and weeks of waiting for Daddy to come home and set things right. By the time this is understood, there will be new hope on the horizon—perhaps a fair primary, a new round of potential criminal prosecutions for war crimes. This time, they believe, it will be different, writes Kathleen Wallace .

That’s how most human minds seem to work. If you don’t get justice today, just wait. It will come eventually. You’ll be rewarded in the afterlife, or perhaps after the midterm elections. But not today.

The fact that an inordinate number of women have come forward to share their horrific experiences as children seems unbelievable to many. Lives have been destroyed by the actions of a small group of privileged and deranged men. The Venn diagram intersects in all the wrong places. Intelligence agencies, genocidal governments—they all seem to play a role in this sickening drama. At this point, you’d have to be a true conspiracy theorist not to see the connection with the life-sucking misery unfolding across the globe. The common theme is stealing the autonomy of others and placing oneself above all others, including the health of the planet. No wonder they enjoy terrorizing children. These are the same people who delight in stealing land and destroying natural environments. They are nothing more than a death drive, seeking the feeling of being alive by skimming off the good and natural in the world for a temporary thrill. Deep down they know they have no soul, but that doesn’t stop them from ignoring that fact and filling the void with privileged and sick behaviors.

How many of you landed a teaching position at a prestigious institution without a degree? How many of you bought a mansion for a dollar from the owner of Victoria’s Secret? These are all moments in Epstein’s life. We’re all tired of seeing his leering face staring back at us. This man exemplifies the system and the decay within it. A normally functioning society wouldn’t allow such a person to gain so much power. A society without a large number of pedophile sociopaths at the top wouldn’t have been so vulnerable to a man like this. A healthy society without poverty-stricken girls willing to pay for braces or cancer care for their mothers—then this pool of victims wouldn’t have been so large. And without the despicable tactics of intelligence agencies to gather compromising material, the web wouldn’t have become so tangled and intertwined.

The evidence is already there. It was there when Donald Trump said he went to teenage beauty pageants to stare at naked girls. These people have spoken up. Believe them. Only in sexual matters does the burden of proof lie with the victims themselves, even if they were children. If you have trouble believing one person, consider the vast number of women making similar statements. This has been going on for decades, and many people in positions of power looked the other way or even participated in the sadism.

The fact that one relies on an outside authority to say, “Yes, it’s okay to believe,” is a crucial part of how such a thing could happen in the first place. So many people over the years have equated obscene wealth with responsible behavior. If there was a 50-year-old man in your neighborhood who had children come to his house to give him “massages,” wouldn’t you realize how depraved that is? Of course you would, but the sheer number of people at the top of our society who either looked away hoping to get funding or actively participated would fill you with horror, with or without heavily redacted files. A society without clear morals and a puritanical equation of wealth = God’s favor is surely a recipe for disaster.

Don’t get me wrong, the fact that we have a Justice Department that behaves this way is grotesque, but it’s madness to simply wait for clear evidence from the perpetrators’ lair. It seems like what’s really happening now is that people are offended because the pretense is gone. At least tell me it’s raining when you’re peeing on my head from a balcony, or something.

It would be wonderful if there were some kind of closure for these victims and if the perpetrators received their just punishment. It would be glorious to see the people who committed these acts punished. They continue to profit from exploiting young girls, the economy, and the planet.

It’s all certainly interconnected. As Daniel Quinn would say, they are the “takers” of this society. Sometimes it’s difficult for decent people to truly understand the wolves in their midst (sorry, that saying really isn’t fair to wolves), but anyway—the masses regress, behave like children, and wait for permission and approval from the abusers who act as our parasites.

The only time we see a crack in the edifice is when there’s infighting among the very wealthy. This doesn’t even seem to be the case in this instance. There are simply too many of these people inclined to commit these kinds of crimes or to look the other way if the behavior benefits them.

We don’t need permission to use our own abilities to understand what’s happening. It’s not complicated, and we don’t need authority to reach perfectly rational conclusions. The decay is widespread, and nothing will change the fact that the current system is one of exploitation.

The question isn’t when the perpetrators will give us the evidence we need; the question is when we will simply trust ourselves and look with clarity when we see predators doing what predators do. And what will we do about it?
