Clickbait Diplomacy

Sometimes it isn’t what is being said that’s important, but the volume of the message that tells the truth. From out of almost nowhere, the X message from liberals is that somehow the actions of ICE are totalitarian and dystopian, but when the FBI came after grandmothers praying in front of the capitol on January 6th, that wasn’t. They still call January 6th an insurrection, knowing that it wasn’t. This is all media hype that the left and bots have been able to manufacture for a long time and it works, if the point is to destabilize the nation, pit one group against another.
One cannot take these “people” (some of them are not) seriously, not because they have a different opinion, but because their opinions are guided by politics, not principle. I don’t like what ICE is doing in Minneapolis at every step, but they’re doing their jobs and when you have animated, brainwashed useful idiots all over the streets every day, there’s liable to be conflict and errors made. None of the left is calling for a pause in demonstrations to keep people safe, they are increasing the pressure to create mistakes. When people will not show proof of citizenship, knowing that ICE is there to determine and arrest illegals, that’s interference. There’s a thin line and it’s determined by the circumstances, this volatile situation is one of those circumstances when it changes.
Saying that, I am not likely to provide proof of citizenship on demand, or provide ID on a whim, but then, I’m not in Minneapolis during a surge of ICE agents with the intent of ridding the United States of illegals who have been defrauding the US Government and particularly taking my tax dollars and sending them to Somalia. I am more willing to cooperate there, where I will be aiding them by establishing my identity. That does not extend to being randomly pulled over on the street, however.
This is an extraordinary action of ICE agents. It is well publicized. No one is in that area unless their intent is to interfere with the legal actions of federal agents, so if some poor fool is just unknowingly tooling through the area on the way to work and gets sucked up into the volatile vortex of this extraordinary action, that’s unfortunate and they, as American citizens, have a right to sue and get their day in court. That’s the remedy, though, not driving into that area to provide cover for illegals to escape.
And Minneapolis is not the only subject that has drawn out the clickbait army, either. There’s Greenland. All of Europe is aflame with its desire to become a fourth head in the multipolar world. It sees itself as an equal or superior to Russia, China and the US. Canada, also throws itself into the European sphere of influence ostensibly to protect Greenland, but it isn’t, not really. It’s cast as a rebellion against Trump, but it isn’t, it’s a rebellion against the right, against the US and intended to defend communism in the Western Hemisphere.
It doesn’t help that Trump continues to stir the pot, but that’s what he does. It feels like his pursuit of Greenland is more likely designed to out Europe as a hostile force rather than its typical role as an ally to the United States. I don’t believe that Europe has been an ally since the creation of the European Union, something obviously designed to compete with the US on trade issues. It never takes long for economic competition to become strategic and military adversaries. To deny that the EU is an adversary of the US, something they have continually maintained until very recently, is to deny reality.
All of this just clears the air. Canada is an adversary after so many decades as a friend and ally. But as far back as the War of 1812, they were not allies, but enemies. So, this is just the evolution of a relationship that has long been peaceful. That’s been a unique feature of North America, but that may be coming to an end. Both Canada and Mexico have become hostile.
The United States is alone in the world. It always has been and as Lord Palmerston said of England “Therefore I say that it is a narrow policy to suppose that this country or that is to be marked out as the eternal ally or the perpetual enemy of England. We have no eternal allies, and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are eternal and perpetual, and those interests it is our duty to follow.” This is true of any nation and our comfortable relationships with Canada and Mexico began to change when their policies began to change. Some will say that this was not a problem under Biden, but then Biden is a communist as well, so that serves each other’s purpose.
We are in a global upheaval where alliances and strategic partners is in flux. This usually presages world war. The quick hostility of Canada and European nations exposed itself with the suggestion that the US required Greenland as a defense against the other polar powers on earth. That’s all it took for the communist EU to expose itself.
In all of this, the purpose is to destroy the United States from within and from without. This nation is in a vise between the two and as other nations come to the US as new allies, the harder the EU and UN strive to destroy the US. The movement toward national populism demonstrated in the nations we featured in Deconstruction: The Global Fight for Freedom, are the nations who have emerged as allies to the West. Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic have been the most outspoken supporters of national independence from disastrous EU policies. In South and Central America there has been a similar rise in resistance to the socialist UN policies, namely Argentina, El Salvador, Bolivia, Chile and now Peru seems on the verge of joining that coalition. Left out are the nations who have gone the way of the communists: Venezuela and Brazil. They find comfort in their roles as allied with the CCP and Russia on this global chessboard.
From the outside, it seems like Trump is attempting to establish the Western Hemisphere as a political and military stronghold the way Russia is in Europe and China is in the East. With the vitriolic, arrogant and hostile reaction to Trump’s attempt to bring Greenland into the US power structure, he’s exposed Europe to the vise it’s in, if it were capable of recognizing it.
The outcome for the US is positive. It’s a consolidation of power within the Western Hemisphere that requires the US to abandon NATO and bring troops home from Western Europe, something advocated for a long time, but until Europe became hostile it was hard to imagine leaving these nations open to attack from Russia without involving the US.
If the US is to defend any part of Europe, it would have to be Central Europe. If they could include Spain and Portugal in this defense policy, there would be naval access through the Strait of Gibraltar, but then, I’m not a military strategist and don’t claim to have any strategic expertise. I’ll leave that to others, but it is an alternative to going through Denmark to get to the Baltic Sea. Perhaps that is the actual strategery behind the annexation of Greenland, to force Denmark into a hostile relationship and give cause to subdue it.
The point is, this century will be vastly different from anything we have known in the past. All alliances of the post WWII world are coming undone. Russia, absent the Soviets, is as likely an ally as any of the former allies are likely to become enemies. We’re just seeing the tip of the iceberg of world events.
