Europe Pretends It Owns Greenland

The most odious aspect of European-created “globalism” is its pretense. It pretends that man-made “climate change” will kill everyone unless we allow bureaucratic meddlesome individuals to regulate all economic exchanges. It pretends that Russia is about to conquer all of Europe, even though all of Europe has derided Russia for the past thirty years as a Third World paper tiger. It pretends that the massive invasion of foreigners from Africa, the Middle East, and Asia is entirely natural and impossible to prevent, and that acceptance and tolerance are the “humanitarian” thing to do. It pretends that native citizens are “racists” for wanting to preserve their own culture in their own lands. Even as it welcomes the Islamic conquest of civilization across the continent, European “globalism” pretends that its crippled, mismanaged, and misremembered civilization remains the central and most important expression of enlightened progress in the world.

To outsiders uninstilled with a sense of European entitlement or burdened by Europe’s policy delusions, Europe is a mess. It is currently in the process of reshaping itself into a self-hating, Islamocentric, parasitic, pluralistic, historically illiterate cesspool of cultural meaninglessness. European films and television series regularly censor history by removing native Europeans from old narratives. Europe’s suicide will be complete when every actor is non-white and every storyline reinforces the narrative that Muslims populated all the lands from the North Sea to the Mediterranean. These multicultural revisions of history are absurd. But when native Britons point out that there were no African Celts at the time of Caesar’s invasion and that there were no Pakistani nobles in the royal court in the Middle Ages, a divided UK sends out the social media “thought police” to harass and legally threaten anyone who refuses to pretend that history is offensive and therefore needs to be rewritten, writes  JB Shurk .

When it comes to personal defense, Europe is all about pretense. Big, bad French President Emmanuel Macron, the seriously terrifying British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and King Kraut German Chancellor Friedrich Merz recently assembled the European “coalition of the willing” in Paris to join forces with the still-incumbent President Zelensky and stare down Russian President Putin with all the menacing determination men in ten-thousand-dollar suits can muster. While the European elites mocked us Americans as a bunch of clueless, boorish cowboys, the Paris leadership did what it could to make it clear to the world that Europe’s most serious law enforcement officers had formed a deadly posse that would not rest until every last Russian was expelled from the expanding plantation of the European Union.

But aside from European leaders’ penchant for grandiloquent pronouncements and their tendency to stick their noses so high in the air that the rest of the world sees nothing but nose hair, how are they going to make good on all their anti-Russian threats? They can’t. Their armies are weak slugs, and every European general knows it. It’s the US military that allows European gentlemen to strut their stuff on stage with the pretense of still having a backbone. It’s the US troops and their cowboy ways that allow European elites to pretend their natural state is anything other than passive surrender. Take US military power away from the dying NATO, and a contingent of good-old-boy Texans could conquer most of France before the diminutive Macron puts on his high-heeled loafers.

So why is the Danish prime minister announcing to the world that an American takeover of Greenland would mean the end of NATO? It’s like telling an unknown arsonist that you’ll disband the fire department if he doesn’t stop setting fires. What does the Danish prime minister hope to achieve with this? She has a single rowboat with three men on board, armed with morally indignant words and a flare gun, to guard the world’s largest island. If she sends American troops and military equipment back to the Western Hemisphere, the Russian army, which has spent the past four years trying to tame Ukraine’s eastern territories, might conquer all of Europe. I mean, how does Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen plan to defend her Nordic peninsula and the surrounding islands from Putin’s Slavic horde? With furrowed brows, legally binding treaties, and stern words?

The truth is, Greenland barely belongs to anyone. It’s three times the size of the world’s second-largest island and covers nearly 30 percent of Australia’s land area. Yet Greenland has only 56,000 inhabitants, making it the world’s most sparsely populated country. Although the kingdoms of Norway and Denmark have claimed Greenland for a thousand years, Inuit make up 90 percent of the population today. Danes, on the other hand, make up about 7 percent. Calling Greenland Danish is like the United Kingdom calling India British. It’s a relic of European colonialism—the very thing European elites hypocritically denounce to their citizens as “racist,” “imperialist,” and “incompatible” with the twenty-first century. Prime Minister Frederiksen’s claim that 50,000 Inuit should remain part of the Danish kingdom sounds like drinking vinegar from an old world power with an inflated sense of self-worth, knowing that Greenland represents 98 percent of its total land area.

Anyone looking at a world map with the North Pole at its center can understand President Trump’s strategic thinking. The Arctic is tomorrow’s battlefield. Russia and the Scandinavian countries surround one side of the Arctic. In the Western Hemisphere, Alaska, Canada, and Greenland complete the circle. Canada—a socialist country that still bows to King Charles III and has too many economic ties with communist China—is an unreliable partner. Only red-white-and-blue Americans can adequately defend the North American side of the Arctic. Moreover, the US military has been investing in Greenland’s defense for a century.

Americans are already defending Greenland. Pretending it somehow belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark is petty narcissism. Unfortunately, European elites excel at little else than petty narcissism. So Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen will sulk. The triumvirate of little toddlers—Starmer, Macron, and Merz—will stamp their feet and threaten President Trump with all their invisible might. But no amount of European huffing and puffing will change the president’s mind. Once he decides something must be done to defend America’s national security, it will be done in due time.

However the final details are written, Greenland in North America will once again belong to the North Americans. Or were the old European monarchies under the illusion that the Monroe Doctrine (or Don Roe Doctrine) applied only to regions in the south?
