Iran Will Likely ‘Go for the Jugular’ if U.S. Resumes War — Scott Ritter

Scott Ritter, the former UN weapons inspector, said in an interview Monday that he believes Iran will “go for the jugular” right from the start if the U.S. and Israel resume the war because it understands that it will be in an existential fight for survival.
“If we started attacking Iran, I think you’re going to see Iran hit some Gulf Arab states harder than they’ve ever been hit; hit Israel hard, start taking out key infrastructure, and maybe reach out and touch the United States in a few places as well,” he told Judge Andrew Napolitano’s Judging Freedom.
He said if the war restarts, the U.S. will be carrying out strikes on empty buildings and bridges that do not matter to the Iranian military, and the Iranians will be “striking back with absolute devastation.”
President Donald Trump backed down again on Tuesday and took to Truth Social to announce that, based on a request from Pakistan, he will extend the ceasefire with Iran until its “seriously fractured” government can come up with a “unified proposal” for the U.S. to consider.
He assured the world that the blockade will stay right where it is and the U.S. military will be prepared to carry out its mission if needed.
Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of the Iranian Parliament, posted on X Monday: Trump, by imposing a siege and violating the ceasefire, seeks to turn this negotiating table – in his own imagination – into a table of surrender or to justify renewed warmongering. We do not accept negotiations under the shadow of threats, and in the past two weeks, we have prepared to reveal new cards on the battlefield.”
Ali Vaez, the Iran project director for the International Crisis Group, told The New York Times that the Iranians “measure the timeline in months for themselves, and in weeks for the Trump administration and the global economy. They think Trump can’t tolerate the strait remaining closed for another three weeks.”
TREND FORECAST: The Trends Journal has been clear: Trump answers to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and there is no way Israel will allow Trump to end the war in its current state. This ceasefire is just a stalling tactic by Washington as forces in the region reload to carry out a new round of fighting.
