Meet Norm Eisen — the Man Trying to Derail Trump’s Anti-Corruption Campaign

Donald Trump was elected on a promise to drain the swamp. But it took Elon Musk to figure out where the swamp was located. As it happens, permanent Washington resides in the vast government agencies that suck trillions of dollars into a black hole pushing the country closer and closer to bankruptcy. Musk pinpointed these out-of-control agencies as the bastion of the overbloated bureaucracy that pose the greatest threat to the survival of the nation. In response, he created the Department Of Government Efficiency or DOGE, the most innovative watchdog agency in US history, comprised entirely of genius-level talent tasked with the job of blitzing-through the ocean of abstruse government data to expose the trillions of dollars in waste, fraud and abuse.

DOGE had been making impressive strides in putting America’s fiscal house back in order, when they were stopped in their tracks by a rearguard action launched by one particularly adept attorney who manipulated the levers of legal power in a way that brought Trump’s anti-corruption campaign to a screeching halt. His name is Norm Eisen, and he appears to be the driving force behind the lawfare strategy that is preventing DOGE (Department Of Government Efficiency) from doing its job and saving the country from insolvency.

Surprisingly, Eisen does not deny his pivotal role in preventing the Trump team from doing their job and eradicating corruption at the agencies so America can get its fiscal house back in order. In fact, he even boasted that “my group and our allies and many others and going to court and securing these orders stopping them.” This is from an article at Gateway Pundit:

“What you’re seeing is shock and awe assault on the foundations of our democracy with all of these unconstitutional and illegal actions and responding shock and awe by my group and our allies and many others and going to court and securing these orders stopping them,” Norm Eisen said boasting about his role in getting partisan activist judges to rule against Trump.

Eisen continued, “I won orders last week locking Mr. Musk out of the Treasury Department – he has no right to look at that data! Tying the hands of the president, the attorney general and others who want to doxx – reveal the identity of 6,000 FBI agents!” Gateway Pundit

Did I hear that right? So, it is not the federal judges we should blame for the obstructionist maneuvers that are preventing audits at the various government agencies, but one activist lawyer who is driven by God-knows-what?

With that in mind, I decided to put this blunt question to Musk’s new AI creation Grok 3:

Question—Is Norm Eisen the lawyer that is blocking DOGEs audit of government agencies?

Yes, Norm Eisen is a key figure involved in legal actions aimed at blocking the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)’s audit and activities concerning government agencies. He has been notably active in filing lawsuits and providing commentary against DOGE’s access to sensitive data and its broader initiatives. Eisen has specifically challenged DOGE’s access to Treasury Department data and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) records, arguing against what he perceives as unconstitutional or illegal overreach by DOGE. His actions are part of a broader legal strategy to oppose or restrict DOGE’s mandate to “slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies” as set forth by President Trump’s administration. (Grok)

So, there it is: The political agenda of the newly elected administration is not being derailed by citizen’s groups or state attorneys general (as one might expect in a democracy), but an activist attorney whose intimate knowledge of the system has allowed him to subvert democracy and overturn the will of the people. Is that an overstatement?

I think not.

But, why? Is Eisen really concerned about threats to personal privacy or is he more focused on sabotaging Trump’s attempt to put the nation’s finances on solid footing? What drives a man to act in a way that is clearly against the interests of his own country?

Did I mention that Eisen is linked to George Soros?

This is from Grok:

Yes, Norm Eisen has connections to George Soros. Here’s a summary based on the information available:

Funding: Eisen founded Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), which has received funding from Soros’s Open Society Foundations. Specifically, in 2017, Soros’s foundation donated $1.35 million to CREW.

Associations: Eisen’s involvement with organizations and initiatives that align with Soros’s interests is notable. For example, he was part of the Transition Integrity Project (TIP), which has been linked to Soros, focusing on scenarios involving contested elections.

Legal and Political Activities: Eisen’s role as counsel during the impeachment proceedings against President Trump and his work in various capacities (like with the Brookings Institution) have been highlighted in discussions about his ties to Soros, particularly in the context of legal strategies against political figures.

These connections have been a point of discussion, especially among conservative media and political figures, who often cite these links when criticizing Eisen’s activities or the broader political strategies associated with Soros. However, the direct personal or professional relationship between Eisen and Soros beyond these financial and organizational links is not explicitly detailed in public records but is inferred from these associations. (Grok)

Okay, so there is no smoking gun, but there is a considerable amount of circumstantial evidence suggesting some type of alignment or collaboration between the two main characters. Here’s more from a post on X by Mario Newfal:

THANKS TO NORM EISEN: HOW SOROS & DEMS FUNDED THE LEGAL WAR AGAINST TRUMP

George Soros’ Open Society Foundations has provided substantial funding to Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), the watchdog group co-founded by Norm Eisen.

CREW has been a major player in legal actions against Trump, from the Emoluments Clause lawsuits to ethics complaints and impeachment efforts.

With millions in backing from Soros-linked organizations and other Democratic donors, CREW has waged a relentless legal war against Trump and his allies.

So, basically, political lawfare backed by billionaire cash… Source: OpenSecrets, Politico, IRS Filings @MarioNawfal

So, Soro’s foundation is providing big money to an organization “co-founded by Norm Eisen” that attacks Trump?

Once again, we cannot independently verify this, but it seems probable given Eisen’s activities which are hard to explain otherwise. But—assuming there is some truth to these allegations—then why is Soros so dead-set on destroying Trump? This post on X by Victor Bigham helps to answer that question:

USAID: Soros’ secret cash cow

US conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation claimed in 2017 that George Soros’ Open Society Foundations (OSF) had been made “the main implementer of USAID’s aid” since at least 2009.

But the Soros-USAID collaboration began much earlier. A 1993 USAID document shows the agency signed an agreement with the Soros Foundations’ Management Training Program to train 30 “professionals” from Bulgaria, Estonia, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, a series of color revolutions shook Eastern Europe, with George Soros’ network of NGOs playing a central role in the unrest. In 2003–2004, Soros’ International Renaissance Foundation partnered with USAID to support Ukraine’s ‘Orange Revolution’. Prior to that, the US spent $54.7 million in 2003 and $34.11 million in 2004 on “democracy programs” in Ukraine through various agencies, including USAID

The US legal watchdog Judicial Watch revealed in April 2018 that USAID sponsored Soros’ globalist agenda in Guatemala. In total, OSF reportedly spent around $100 million fomenting unrest in Latin America between 2015 and 2018.

In October 2018, the watchdog obtained documents indicating that USAID partnered with Soros to fund radical left-wing activists in Albania. In 2016, USAID reportedly allocated $9 million to a campaign overseen by Soros’ East West Management Institute.

To illustrate the scale of funds managed by Soros-linked initiatives, in 2024, then-President Joe Biden requested nearly $30 billion for USAID in FY2025. @Ravious101

So, USAID has been a “cash cow” for Soros global operations, but now, Team Trump is dismantling USAID leaving Soros and Co. out in the cold. If true, that would certainly be sufficient motive for using whatever tools one had at their disposal to remove Trump or derail his agenda.

By the way, according to Grok:

there is evidence suggesting that organizations linked to George Soros have received funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)….

Funding to Soros-Linked Organizations: The East-West Management Institute, an organization partnered with Soros’s Open Society Foundations, has been reported to have received over $270 million from USAID over the last 15 years. This funding was associated with various programs aimed at promoting democracy, governance, and judicial reform in countries like Albania, Armenia, Cambodia, and Georgia…. The Open Society Foundations have denied receiving direct funding from USAID, asserting that they fund their activities independently. However, the indirect funding through partnered organizations or initiatives has been a point of contention… Various Republican senators and conservative groups have criticized these funding relationships, leading to calls for investigations and audits, especially in the context of Trump’s administration’s actions against USAID.

This summary indicates that while George Soros himself does not directly receive money from USAID, organizations connected to his Open Society Foundations have indeed been recipients of USAID grants, often under scrutiny for potentially advancing Soros’s global influence or ideological agendas. (Grok)

Repeat: Soros’s Open Society Foundations has been reported to have received over $270 million from USAID over the last 15 years.

Yikes.

Once again, Grok is careful to say there is no smoking gun but, even so, the appearance of a funding stream connecting USAID to Soro’s political operations around the world, looks pretty damning. That, of course, provides the motive for carrying out the lawfare attacks on Donald Trump whose goal is to stop or disrupt the illicit flow of taxpayer dollars to troublemaking oligarchs who depend on federal handouts to implement their silly social experiments. Which brings us back to Norn Eisen who may or may not be linked to these more expansive globalist activities. Check out this tweet by Trump before the presidential election:

The group suing me in Colorado to ridiculously try and Unconstitutionally keep me off the ballot (I am leading against DeSanctimonious by almost 50 points, and beating Crooked Joe, BIG!), is TRUMP DERANGED “CREW,” c omposed of many slime balls & groups like Norm Eisen through Brookings or Just Security, Andrew Weissmann, Joyce Vance, et al. They are, perhaps illegally, working with Weissmann acolyte Lisa Monaco at “Injustice.” I have been beating them for years, including Impeachments. MAGA!!! President Trump Goes Off on “Slime Balls” Weissmann and Eisen, Gateway Pundit

“Slime Balls”?? That’s pretty harsh criticism even for Trump, which suggests that he has had numerous encounters with Eisen in the past, which appears to be the case. In fact, Eisen has been a thorn in Trump’s side for nearly a decade. Here’s how Jeff Carsol summed it up on X:

Most are aware of Norm Eisen but not everyone is aware of just how pervasive Eisen (and his legal attacks) have been – and how he’s weaved his way through all the major events of the last eight years.

After Ben Wittes first invoked the use of Lawfare against Trump (a month before the 2016 election), Eisen responded by ramping up his legal efforts at Brookings – and soon became the effective outside legal counsel for Mueller’s special counsel investigation. Eisen even developed specific legal strategies for Mueller to use.

Before Mueller’s report was even released Eisen shifted seamlessly to impeachment counsel for House Dems – where he drafted ten different articles of impeachment against Trump. All of which were written a month before Pelosi announced an official impeachment inquiry into Trump.

Eisen continued his work – re-aligning with CREW (he was co-founder). Eisen also participated in and directed pre-election wargames that mysteriously predicted the election outcome with eerie precision.

Eisen was also working with another longtime collaborator, Michael Podhorzer, on Dem efforts in the 2020 election. Podhorzer has been called the Architect of the 2020 election.

Eisen then moved on to seemingly direct all the legal cases against Trump. Eisen appears to have written (on background) many of the drafts for Fani Willis – and developed many of the strategic attacks for Jack Smith.

It’s not us saying this. Eisen’s published multiple volumes on each section I’ve mentioned through Brookings Institute where he’s a senior fellow.

Eisen’s also directly tied in – and working with – Mary McCord and her lawfare group at Georgetown. They reportedly meet weekly by phone – and their group includes all the msnbc legal talking heads.

A known area of specific focus is restricting Trump’s use of the Insurrection Act to quell violent protests & riots.

Eisen also has a new working group called State Democracy Defenders Action acting in conjunction with his lawfare partners and most of the media’s legal talking heads. And it looks like they’re trying to push a Color Revolution in response to Trump’s new presidency.

Eisen has recently been bragging on MSNBC about his role in getting an activist judge to temporarily rule against DOGE.

So beyond the obvious questions surrounding Eisen, who has been paying for all these legal attacks?
Jeff Carlson@themarketswork

Eisen’s relentless legal offensive shows how the law can be turned on its head and used in a way that subverts the will of the people while eroding public confidence in our political system. And while all the recent surveys show that a clear majority of voters support the policies Trump has implemented to eliminate fraud at the various government agencies, that effort has been deliberately thwarted by the legal wrangling of a capable attorney who is determined to scuttle Trump’s anti-corruption campaign and push the country closer to economic ruin.

It is a shameful act of betrayal.
