The Ongoing Transmaid’s Tale

The Ongoing Transmaid’s Tale
Audrey Hale

In late December, the FBI released more than 100 pages of  Audrey Hale’s writings.  Hale, a woman who thought she was a man and who murdered six people at a Nashville school in 2023, described her targeted facility as a “Christian school (hate religion)” in the writings explaining her motive for the attack.

On March 27, 2023, in the run-up to the “Trans Day of Vengeance,” Hale shot her way into the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, and murdered nine-year-olds Evelyn Dieckhaus, William Kinney, and Hallie Scruggs, daughter of Covenant Presbyterian pastor Chad Scruggs. As the autopsy report confirms, the children died of multiple gunshot wounds, some inflicted at point-blank range. Hale also applied “blunt force trauma” to William Kinney and Katherine Koonce, 60, and shot them in their heads. Hale also shot dead teacher Cynthia Peak, 61, and custodian Mike Hill, 61, before Nashville police took her down.

A former student at the Covenant school, Hale had been planning the attack for months, but afterward the police and the FBI suppressed the release of her anti-Christian manifesto. According to the Trans Resistance Network (TRN), Audrey Hale had “no other effective way to be seen than to lash out by taking the lives of others.” Then-President Joe Biden failed to condemn Hale or to name even one of her victims, but his White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre took it to another level.

“Our hearts go out to the trans community as they are under attack right now,” Jean-Pierre said. It was as though, after the murder of Sharon Tate and six others in August 1969, the Nixon White House proclaimed Charles Manson’s homicidal hippies to be the real victims. As the newly released material reveals, Hale used federal Pell Grant money to purchase the firearms she used to kill the kids. In 2025, a Hale copycat appeared in Minneapolis.

On Aug. 27 in Minneapolis, Robert Westman, a male who “identified” as a female named Robin Westman, opened fire on the Annunciation Catholic Church and School, killing eight-year-old Fletcher Merkel, 10-year-old Harper Moyski, and wounding 17 others, 14 of them children. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey failed to name or condemn Westman or speculate on the shooter’s motive. Again, the Democratic official made the murderer the victim.

“I have heard about a whole lot of hate that’s being directed at our trans community,” Frey told reporters. “Anybody who is using this as an opportunity to villainize our trans community, or any other community out there, has lost their sense of common humanity.” It was as though, after the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in 1929, Chicago mayor William Thompson proclaimed that anybody using the mass murder to “villainize the Mafia” had lost their humanity. Like Biden and Jean-Pierre, the mayor has missed a few realities.

As Bruce Bawer explains, homosexuality and transgenderism are two “utterly different phenomena,” and “queer” can mean anything. The LGBTQ formulation is a construct, and there is no “trans community,” just as there is no Landscaper, Grocer, Bandleader, Teacher, and Quaker “community.” The trans types believe that biological reality is a construct, and so men can become women and vice versa. As French historian Hippolyte Taine noted of the “general idea in narrow, empty minds,” this belief dominates them to the point that they are literally possessed. Those who hold to biological reality, even small children, become the enemy, so Hale and Westman gun them down. Despite these atrocities, trans ideology remains a fixture in government schools, particularly in California.

The San Diego Unified School District promotes 28 sexual orientations and nine gender identities, including “demigirl,” “homoflexible,” “gynedemisexual,” and so forth, at the most impressionable time of a young person’s life. If the relentless trans propaganda sparks gender confusion, K-12 districts are prohibited from notifying parents. That prohibition was established by Assembly Bill 1955, which Gov. Gavin Newsom signed in July 2024. In 2025, three days before Christmas, embattled parents received a present from federal judge Roger Benitez.

“These parental exclusion policies are designed to create a zone of secrecy around a

school student who expresses gender incongruity,” wrote Benitez in his 52-page opinion. The parental exclusion policies create “a trifecta of harm” and violate parents’ constitutional rights. So Benitez struck down the parental exclusion policy.

State Attorney General Rob Bonta contended that the exclusion policies “allow transgender students to safely participate as their authentic selves.” Judge Benitez had “misapplied the law,” Bonta charged, and predicted that the ruling would be “reversed on appeal.” Also planning an appeal was the ACLU of Southern California, which called the case “part of a nationwide, coordinated attack on trans people and all those who stand up for trans youth.”

That sounds like what Jacob Frey and Karine Jean-Pierre said after the Minnesota and Nashville murders by Robert Westman and Audrey Hale. Gov. Newsom failed openly to condemn either murderer or to name any of their victims.

California’s coiffed governor, who has ties to the politically influential Brown, Pelosi, and Getty families, is ramping up reality dysphoria, acting like the delusional muck-dwelling peasants of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This reckless denial of reality is no basis for a system of government, has no place in education, and cannot legitimately be used to justify excluding parents from their own children.

The FBI must stop obscuring the motives of murderers and terrorists. Maybe an FBI that actually does its job can even prevent mass murderers like Hale from executing their vile plans. In 2026, we’ll have to see what happens.
