The Refugees are White in Trump’s America

Fifty-nine Afrikaner refugees arrived in America this week. It was once unthinkable that America would ever give them asylum. It was verboten to mention anti-white racism, or even to acknowledge that life was worse for whites in the “Rainbow Nation.” The mainstream media imagined the African nation as a multicultural utopia, despite its horrific crime levels, insane corruption, racial violence, and declining economy.

Trump’s action forced the American public to notice what’s going on in South Africa. Of course, liberals and major outlets still pretend South Africa is a wonderful place and there is no anti-white persecution. Journalists dutifully repeated the government’s assertion that claims of anti-white racism are “false.” China also claims the same about how it treats its Uighur population. No American reporter takes the CCP’s word for it, but the majority of them believe a black government would never oppress a white minority.

This is an important moment. For too long, anti-white racism was ignored and even mocked. Now it’s official government policy to treat it as a serious problem, both domestically and internationally. It’s hard to overstate how big of an achievement this is. The previous administration complained about white supremacy being “woven” into our founding documents, flew Black Lives Matter flags at embassies, and embraced DEI as its favored ideology. The new one now only welcomes refugees that are white. It’s a dream come true for nationalists.

Trump’s statements on the Afrikaners were radical. He described what’s going in South Africa as “white genocide”:

It’s a genocide that’s taking place, and you people don’t want to write about it. It’s a terrible thing that’s taking place, and the farmers are being killed; they happen to be white. Whether they are white or Black makes no difference to me, but white farmers are being brutally killed, and their land is being confiscated in South Africa.

The newspapers and the media, television media, doesn’t even talk about it. If it were the other way round, they’d talk about it, that would be the only story they talk about.

In 2025, the president of the United States says “white genocide.” That term was once relegated to the fringes of the internet, with even many hardcore right-wingers feeling it went a bit overboard. Now the most powerful man in the world references it. It’s a fitting term for what’s happening in South Africa. The government wants to confiscate white land after years of displacing them from jobs and ignoring the brutal murders carried out against them by blacks. When a country takes a specific ethnic group’s land and gives it to a more favored group, international opinion dubs it ethnic cleansing. The only reason that it’s denied in South Africa is because the Afrikaners are white and the ruling government is black.

What’s probably most stunning about Trump’s white genocide comment is how it seemed an ordinary thing for the president to say. We live in a new age where the commander in chief repeats lines from the Dissident Right and makes policy based on ideas originating from RW Twitter. It’s the new norm.

Other Trump officials made similarly keyed comments on the Afrikaners. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau welcomed the Afrikaners at the airport and described them as “quality seeds.” “As you know—a lot of you I think are farmers, right—when you have quality seeds, you can put them in foreign soil and they will blossom. They will bloom,” he said. Afrikaners, unlike other immigrants, certainly are top-tiers seeds who will blossom in America.

The Afrikaners demonstrated their exceptionalism in their arrival. Here were normal-looking people flying the American flag. They looked exactly like patriotic native-born Americans. It presented a strong contrast to other refugees, who look alien and don’t even look thrilled to be here. Images of Somalis and Afghans show people who aren’t ready to assimilate. Many of them maintain their separation at taxpayer expense. It’s difficult to say they contribute much to America, while it’s easy to point out how they’re a burden. Seeing the Afrikaners, only the most ardent anti-white racists would dispute that they’re model immigrants.

However, ardent anti-white racists have a loud voice in the media and they were pissed at the sight of white refugees. It violated their sense of who should get this privilege. As all too many expressed on social media, the refugees should be non-whites in exotic outfits, not normal-looking white people. The whole affair made them deeply uncomfortable and even angry. Rapper Azealia Banks even described the Afrikaners as “fucking retarded” in her incomprehension of what took place.

An MSNBC panel described the Afrikaners as “descendants of white supremacy” and mocked their plight. Guest Richard Stengel argued that only racists care about them

The Afrikaners have become the darling of these right-wing white supremacists around the world… it’s like the old Confederacy. They’re held up as these White Christians who are being dispossessed of their land. It’s like, this is modern replacement theory.

Even when faced with facts about the Great Replacement taking place in South Africa, liberals still dismiss it as a dangerous conspiracy theory.

Liberal fury is further inflamed by Trump blocking other refugees. The new administration still maintains a freeze on refugee resettlement and has dramatically cut funding to nonprofits involved in the business. The same week America welcomed the Afrikaners, the government ended deportation protections for Afghan migrants. All of this enraged the Left as the government greeted white refugees with open arms.

Trump lamented in 2018 that America takes in too many immigrants from “shithole countries.” It was one of his more profound statements from his first term. Naturally, the private comment caused a month of media outrage. The overlooked part of Trump’s statement is that he wanted better immigrants from places like Norway. He has now achieved a true compromise. In a reversal of past U.S. policy, the Afrikaner move brings the best immigrants stuck in shithole countries rather than the average residents.

Some on the Right are blackpilled about Trump, but that position is becoming even more untenable. When our only refugees are white, how can one not see the dramatic differences between 47 and his predecessors? We’re in a whole new era with incredible possibilities.
